A visit to Ancient Rome - Colloseum

Beki and I made it to Rome as well. Here are some of our pictures.

For me, the coolest thing to see was the colloseum. Pictures don't really do it justice. Beki made me pose as if to appear that I felt like a gladiator.

My family

Here are my beautiful wife and son in front of a re-created fountain.

Pharaoh in Rome

For some reason, these sideshows expect a couple of Euros for holding still as a statue dressed as something interesting. I couldn't figure out why they were dressed like a sarcofogos.

Roman Remains

You can see that they are constantly digging out remains from Roman structures as this half-burined piece shows. The larger picture is an interesting combination of the old Rome, and a hundred-year-old tribute to the romans in the background.

All tuckered out

JohnTyler was a real trooper throughout our trip. He only had one meltdown before bedtime one night after missing all but a half-hour nap that day. I don't know of another kid who could have tolerated being pushed so hard. This particular day, I made Beki and him wake up by 7:00 a.m. Although they were both sick in bed til the afternoon the day before, by 2:00 p.m. we had seen all of the Vatican city and by 5:30 we had walked up and down ancient rome. You can see from the picture that on the way to the car, he fell asleep. We changed his diaper before making our 4 hour trek up to Pisa. He was so pooped (no pun intended) he didn't stir during the whole process.
