San Marcos Square at Venice

The Pigeons at San Marcos Square were a delight to John Tyler. They were friendly enough becuase there are some kiosks which sell packets of corn for one Euro to feed to them. Most people by the corn and either throw it on the ground or hold it in their hand while the birds perch on their arms to eat it. It is a lot of fun for the tourists. Of course, when John Tyler saw the corn, he knew it had to be some sort of treat. We found it later. This is him getting caught putting it in his mouth. (I know, were horrible for letting him do that.)

John Tyler was going nuts in the stroller everytime we passed just one pigeon on the ground. He would sit up and lean forward in his stroller and reach out to them squeezing his fingers in and out asking them to 'come here birdies'.

You can imagine what he did when he all of a sudden saw masses of pigeons flying all around him. We couldn't deny him the opportunity, so we let him out of the stroller to chase them around. He never tired of it. For about twenty minutes tourists would gather around and take pictures of him playing with the birds. Our favorite pose was when he would want them all to come close and squat down to be closer to them. After squatting, he would patiently reach his arm out and again wave them to come closer with his fingers.

He also got to a point where he was hungry but didn't want to miss any action. Here he is munching on a cracker amidst his excitement for the birdies.
